Supposedly uses a chip that is in the Master System. Good stuff, looks amazing too!

I guess this is nothing new to you retro veterans but it's nice to be surprised by video game trivia once in a while.

I might be wrong, but Lagrange Point uses the VRC7 to provide extended audio features, and that chip is not in the SMS.

I think it's the same chip that's in the Japanese version of Castlevania 3. Sounds way better than what we got.

That was Konami's chip, but other companies had their own chips. Namco had a chip that added 8 channels of sound, Sunsoft had a chip that was used for Gimmick (not that they needed a chip for awesome soundtracks - see Batman and Journey to Silius). The Famicom Disk System ram pack also enhances sound, so some Disk System games have better sound than their crappy PAL/US cart versions (in addition to save functionality!).
