Super Mario 64. Predictable, but true. Super Mario World of the SFC would come a very close second.

hmmm yeah same here so i'm going to go with the one i've played the most which i think would be Super Mario World thanks to the release on the GBA. No but hang on i was blown away when i first played Mario 64 and played it to death over and over!! Damn this is a hard decision.

Mario's time machine, a classic title in "edutainment".

Seriously though I am thinking I had the most fun with Mario 64, although Yoshi's Island is pretty close

                Mario 64.
Genre defining and easily the best 3d platformer ever made. Possibly the 1st camera controlled by the player in game and still one of the best. I remember getting my N64 and starting it up. Just running, jumping and climbing trees was all I did for about 30 mins outside the castle. I was amazed by it. This game was the reason I waited for the next Nintendo machine and didn't go for a Sony.
Don't forget the 1st Bowser fight either. "So longa dear Bowser....", the little fat man shouts as he chucks the boss.
This game is class and the best ever game IMO, I love it.

Its got to be mario one man. Just for the total time spent on it not just days or weeks like games these days i mean months and years i never got sick of playing it.

Super Mario World was, for me, the greatest representation of what makes the mario games different from anything else on the market.

                        Super Mario Kart.

But as a platform game I would go for Yoshis Island. Although it wasn't as large or as challenging as SMW it had loads of character and some great levels.

SMB3. Yoshi's Island underwhelmed me somewhat, I am selling it if anyone's interested.
