Help With NES Mario Title

HI all my bro and I were chatting about our long dead NES and he reminded me of a game :

It featured Luigi looking for Mario I remember it had muted colours think it started with a koopa castle

HELP please its driving me mad that i only half remember it

wasnt that a snes title ? i thought that was it untill my mate got it on the snes a few days back

There was a NES version in US & JPN, came out in 1993. Sounds like that to me.

The NES version was released in PAL-land too (by Mindscape, I think)
