    Disappointing Sequels

I'm doing an article on disappointing sequels.

I have a few in mind but would like my memory refreshed and also some input on games I haven't played.

Any retro sequels let you down?

    Sonic 3.

Even at a tender age the move from Japan to America was obvious. Not a bad game just like Snow Patrol covering Gary Numan.

Sonic 3 was the best thing about the megadrive
it was by far the opposite, in my opinion, of a let-down

Golden Axe 2, Double Dragon 2, Splatterhouse 2, 1943, Final Fight 2, Paperboy 2, Shadow Dancer. I could probably go on, when my brain catches up.

Don't get me wrong, most of those are decent games, I just prefer the original games over them.

            Gary Numan or Gary Lightbody?

If its Lightbody I hope he crashes and dies, if Numan....badass.

There are a few that let me down.

Killer Instinct 2 (Removing the more popular characters is not a good idea)
Sonic 3 (But the game was split in half to be fair)
              Deus EX2 (Awful Game)
              Baldur's Gate 2 (The minute I saw four disc's, I just knew)
The Legend of Zelda: OoT (Poor man's 3D remake of ALTTP)
Saturday Night Slam Master 2 (From wrestling game to a poor one on one beat'em up, what where Capcom thinking!)
Final Fantasy VII (Story was all over the place, and the series just got worse and worse)
Legend of Mana (Death to Square for this sequel)

A few of my pet hates for now.

                    BLiNX II
the first was crap also !

PGR II (sh8t in single player)
all i did was play it in single player and it trumps PGR

Not retro but pgrIII not even as good as a bugged msr

The one that stays in my mind the most and is actually a good game is Rayman 2. I love the original, pure 2d magic with amazing visuals, played it on the Saturn, but the game made a step up to 3-d and in most people eyes it worked, but i wanted another 2-d outing like the first.

                        Imagine that

I love TJ&E2 but it's too different from the first and not a patch on it. Anyone played 3?

Sonic 3 was cool too but I prefer two over all of them. Saying that, Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the best Sonic game.

                          1. ActRaiser 2
Bereft of all that made ActRaiser the classic it is.

                          2. Final Fantasy VIII
If this is indeed a game, then why doesn't it let me play it?

                          3. Ghoul Patrol
Sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbours. How did it turn out this way?

                              for me:

JSRF - the DC original was pretty much the perfect videogame to me, the sequel jus took everything that was so great about it, buried it 6 ft into the ground, and danced all over it

Sega Rally 2 - not a bad game, but the first one was soooo awesome that anything other than best racer of all time was bound to be a let down.

Thank that'll do it for now, but tbh there have been loads of dissapointing sequels over the years.
