PICS from Arcades in other countries - post yours!

I haven't seen this posted yet, so I hope this is a first.

Here are some pics from my last visit to Viet Nam, Quy Nhon.
As you can see, all pretty old games. Most racing games have broken steering wheels...
I think the most recent ones are the Pump It Up games on the far right.
Also had some scrolling beat-em-ups and KoF 2002 I think and Last Blade 1, both with broken sticks (went loopy) and buttons that jumped out because you were ramming it too hard....

All operated by coins which you have to purchase at the counter, 10.000 VND per coin (about € 0,50)

Next time I'll take some pics at the top floor of Diamond Plaza Center when in Sai Gon, they have among others Daytona 2 (with broken steering), Virtua Cop 3, which I haven't tried there, BeatMania, and Initial D. I tried, but couldn't even get into the cabinet! It's really made for small people, goddammit! (also with broken steering noticed afterwards)

EDIT: All the motorcycle games were ok, nothing busted, they even had ManXX TT 4-player in Sai Gon and came in 1st after a couple of tries

No offence mate but either they have a special small Initial D or you're very big. I'm not what you'd call slim yet I can fit in to any racing game including Initial D.

Heh, really, it wasn't THAT bad

PS, I'm 1M87.... and really, really bumped my knee SO hard when entering the cabinet. Just have to wait for the pic until this summer. I think the seat wasn't adjustable...

Apologies for lousy picture quality, but they were covertly snapped by my girlfriend since photography wasn't allowed. I've never understood why arcades or stores would want to ban someone from taking pictures, but that's another discussion:

These were taken in April this year, and yes - it's a fully operational R360 running G-LOC.

I found it on Gran Canaria, in a small town called Vecindario (located about halfway between the airport and Playa del Inglés/Maspalomas, just off the motorway). To be more specific, it's in the basement level of a shopping centre called Centro Comercial Atlantico.

To unexpectedly find that was one of the biggest jaw-drop moments (literally - I always thought that was just an empty phrase, but it's not) I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, since the game was the Japanese version, I managed to select the wrong mode when playing and got the non-interactive "thrill ride" instead of a full game. (To get it right, choose the right-hand option when the game asks you to choose mode.)

And I certainly was in no state to try again afterwards. I enjoy rollercoasters and I'm not usually prone to motion sickness, but this is scary stuff. I was very close to hitting the panic button a few times but managed to ride out the storm.

I do hope they still have it running and keep doing so.

I had been dreaming of trying one out since I first read about them (quite possibly in C&VG back in the earliest years of the '90s), but never had the chance before. And I used to think that I had missed the opportunity and that the machines were all scrapped (or in the ownership of private collectors), but apparently not...

Very sad - looks like arcades aren't worth going in anywhere any more. For me, at least, anyway. I opened this thread hoping the OP had come across a vintage Kung Fu Master or Sky Kid or something. Oh well (fetches slippers).

They had one at the Trocadero in London for aaages, until just a couple of years ago. I never played it as I would have almost certainly thrown up.

There is some dude in the US who specialises in repairing them, so they're going to be around for a while.

Very unlikely, can't remember what kind of oldschool they had, but everything is probably imported/discarded from Korea, as they seem so fond of the South-Korean technology etc... Will try to film everything next time (Retro Core-style)

Hey, how do I get this to work?

                          EDIT
OK, got it to work now, thanks for the explanation.

You put the number after v= between [youtube] tags.

                              (YOUTUBE) + youtube ID (eg hnC7wStb7U) + (/YOUTUBE)

Obviously you need to use straight brackets for the parenthesis.

Took me years to figure that one out!
