Total Wipeout - UKs Version of Takeshi's Castle? With Hammond
07-01-2009, 20:35
BBC One - Total Wipeout, Series 1, Episode 1
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00gmmv8
Twenty contestants take on one of television's largest and most extreme obstacle courses.
Just came across this on the BBC site. Not watched it yet but some here might want to see it.

Haha the first ever contestant is really crap. Hammond's commentary is pretty funny too. Worth a watch.

Saw the first one, you're right, it is very Takeshi's UK!
Entertaining in a slow mo watching people bounce off things kinda way.
Some great examples of "pride before a fall" too

I caught this on TV, it's good - I'd love to have a go but not have it shown on TV. Hammond's comments about the guy Elias who got stuck in the mud for ages made me laugh.

Yeah having one obstacle for 20 minutes is a bit much.
Maybe ther should try less contestants and more obstacles!! Or a shorter show. An hour is a lot, yeah.
Still, I'd love a go at that!!

I've only watched the first ten minutes however, the combination of Hammond's commentary and the participators actions has me crying with laugher.
"He is psyching himself up by shouting at the big balls."
"No, he just face planted!"

If I got the opportunity to do the show, I would most probably likely be similar to him.
He is happy and having a great time, leave him be!

Michael from Cardiff did bloody well!
You could instantly tell that he is a rugby player.
