I have a strange allure to these, specially if the normal grey carts of a game are also available. Anyone know where I might find a full list of them?

Not sure, but I always thought the black carts were Color games that were compatible with the B/W Gameboy (and therefore the Super Gameboy as well), and the clear carts needed a Gameboy Color to work.
Anyway, there's huge number of black cart JPN releases.
Sort of related, does anyone have a list of Gameboy Color games that come in a standard grey cart? I know of one only, Dragon Quest Monsters (JPN).Last edited by nem; 05-02-2009, 16:14.

What are you talking about? there are hundreds of back carts aren't there? Or are you just talking about games that had both a grey and a black cart version? If so there are several games that were monochrome (so grey cart) in Japan but were colourised for the western release (so black cart). Legend of the river king is one that has been mentioned, as well as Harvest Moon DX, and quite a few others I would imagine.

Gameboy color games were Colourless transparent cases that no grove in the top right corner so they could only play in gb color consoles.
The black cartrigde games were hybrids that played in both Gameboy and Gameboy color consoles, having a proper colour pallette instead of the ones the GB color assigns to monochrome gb games.
