    Bizarre tales from Japan

I don't want to derail the rape game thread any further, but I thought a thread about strange stories from the land of the rising sun might be funny. Too late for such gems as the woman who lived in a neighbour's closet for a while (whom he only discovered when he set up cctv cameras), and the man arrested for forcing a girl to spit into a bottle, not to mention the guy who stripped off and stood naked in front of his window with a lampshade on his head, hoping to be seen by nearby high school girls, but we can start now.

Here's a story about a tragic but nevertheless hilariously disfunctional family.

Police arrested a 15-year-old female high school student early Saturday on suspicion of abandoning her mother's body in Okinawa Prefecture, investigative sources said. The girl is believed to have left the body of her mother, 46, in a closet at their home in the village of Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa, according to…

Police said the family lives in the same house but have been virtually separated and have not seen each other for years, because the first and second floors of the house were blocked off to prevent interaction. The father lives with his 78-year-old dad on the first floor, while the mother and daughter live on the second floor. They enter the house via the window and the front door respectively, police have learned
Awesome. Imagine bringing friends round. Nope, we don't use the door - our entrance is the window.

Here's one of the best excuses ever. Sorry for breaking into this woman's house, m'lud, I just...

wanted to see her in her home environment.
Police on Wednesday sent papers on a 32-year-old police lieutenant to prosecutors for attempting to sneak into a colleague's house with a spare key he made by himself in Niigata. The officer, who voluntarily quit the police force the same day, was quoted by police as saying he liked his…

    A policeman as well!

Let's keep them to things which are vaguely funny, not just sick.

Mods, if this is in poor taste, then I'm sorry - lock it and I won't complain.

      Yep.

There's a great poster on the side of one of the buildings in Akihabara proclaiming Aso Taro "Our Taro-chan, a slightly stupid old man".

A fairly quiet weekend. This morning, a civil servant is being held for leaving lingerie in front of the apartment of the department store assistant he has been stalking.

A 40-year-old man, who works for the Kochi prefectural government, was arrested on Sunday for stalking a 48-year-old woman in Kochi Prefecture. Yasumada Komatsu was arrested for allegedly stalking the woman and harassing her by leaving lingerie in front of the door of her apartment from October to December last…

          Another nut job.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for forcibly kissing a female passenger who was seated next to him during an overnight bus trip in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. The victim typed a help message on her cell phone and handed the phone to a passenger seated behind her, who…

I would say that is 2 nut jobs, her included for not actually crying out for help in any way at all.. instead choosing to silently type a message on her mobile and pass it to someone behind her. This kind of thing does my head in.

This is not in the same league as any of these crazy stories, but it's still very odd. Near my flat (round the corner, a block down) there is an estate agency. Every morning the staff march outside, line up and SCREAM the following over and over - "Hontou ni Sumimasen!" (I'm truly sorry) "Arigatou Gozaima****a!" (thank you very much) "Irrashaimase!" (Welcome). It's proper drill instructor style, one person yells it out and the others all repeat. It often wakes me up, the place is surrounded by residential apartments and yet they continue with this madness day after day after day.

If that happened in the UK they would be getting a visit from the Environmental Health dept and held up for anti-social behaviour !

The polititians who drive around blasting out campaign speeches at 9 in the morning get on my nerves. And those black vans...

The more I hear about Japan the less I want to go there, sounds like a really weird place, maybe the weirdest on the planet.

I'd had it up to my ****ing eyeballs with those election vans doing the rounds every day. Then after the election, they would go round blasting out 'thank you for voting' or some ****. The worst part is that it isn't even audible, it was almost as bad as the PA system in my building.

All I'll say is: West rhymes with Best... coincidence?

                      Come here. It's really interesting.

I hate it when the polititians stand outside the station at night trying to shake peoples' hands and shouting "otsukare sama desu!" at every one (at, not to).

Oh I have one of those near me always think I`m having a dream where people are shouting things. Not sure if it wakes me up or not. I have a school next to me, so I get super loud baseball, footy etc but don`t mind the loud politician trucks are annoyin though.

Imagine living opposite a railway crossing! There is one about 100 metres or so from me and it's not a problem but there are apartments right next to it. It would drive you crazy.....ding ding ding ding dinging, all day long...

I used to live not 10m away from the Yamanote line between Otsuka and Sugamo stations. Suprisingly its actually pretty quiet. The people working on the line at night on the other hand...

Here's a real life one for you. I think I have been scammed. I replied to a internet job ad for English teaching, sent my resume, you know the usual. A day later my phone is being spammed by what is know in Japan as 'one giri' calls. Four calls in succession but they hang up after one ring, leaving the number displayed. The curious call that number, and get charged an extortionate premium rate for connecting to that number.

Today I got an email from the supposed English school saying that they can't get through to my mobile (a lie) and would I ring them. The number is the same as the automated one that has been spamming my received calls list for two days. Fvcking criminal cvnts, as they now have my address (on resume) mobile number and email address.

I checked with the site that ran the ad, (Jobs in Japan) and it, the listing, has disappeared as I assume they have received complaints from other people who replied.

I expect porn in my inbox, my real post box and who knows what else now as these things often have Yakuza connections.
