    DVD storage for large collections?

Long story short, I need shelving for my DVD/BD/game collection. I have about 500 DVDs, 60-odd BDs, a couple hundred games, and I want space to grow as well, so let's say it needs to hold about 1,000 DVD cases.

The vast majority seem to hold like 100 at most, with the best that I've found being a media unit from Argos that holds 378 DVDs (link), so if I can't find anything better I can buy 2-3 of those, but I'm still looking for a better solution if there are any.

I've looked around and it doesn't look like I'm going to find anything better in high street places, but does anyone here maybe know of a company specialising in this kind of thing? This place has amazing stuff but it's in the US and doesn't ship abroad

Just go to Ikea, I couldn't stand the sight of my DVDs so got the "Besta Burs" DVD Cabinets to keep them out of sight but they have something for every taste/budget.

I might well end up going there for a look, but the nearest Ikea is an hour away and I couldn't find a lot of suitable stuff on the website. I need other furniture as well, though, so I'll have a peek.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy one (or more of those)! I had the exact same unit for my games (similar storage situation as yourself) and bought myself one of those Argos units. Within a month or two the shelves had bent and sagged and ended up looking awful. All i had on there was DVD's/games. Took it back for a refund as was fortunate enough to inherit a decent shelving unit.
Just thought i'd warn you pal

Thanks for the advice. At this rate I might end up getting something custom made

Argos used to do a wooden rotating one which holds about 200. I've had a look and they don't anymore. Shame. I've got one and it's great.

John Lewis do a nice clear acrylic one: http://www.johnlewis.com/230401809/Product.aspx - I have one and need another for more blu-rays

And of course my dream DVD racks:

Vismara è un’azienda specializzata nella produzione di mobili di lusso, rigorosamente Made in Italy: poltrone per sale cinema, tavoli da biliardo, porta tv...

Ikea have one I use, it's narrow and tall, can't remember the name of it now. Stores 88 DVDs but has that whole customisable peg system so you can size the shelves to fit CDs as well. Each row holds 8 DVDs, with 11 shelves per unit if configured for DVDs/games. They're available in a range of wood colours and fit snug against the wall. I bought a load of them and tile them along the wall.

I've spent a fortune on stuff like this over the last 10 years and no matter what I bought, it would never last long before being too small. Unless you have money and space to burn, I recommend ditching/storing the boxes, inlays etc and just putting the discs in to wallets like those from Caselogic. I did that about a year ago and haven't looked backed.

If you have the ?150 check this

We're very sorry, the page that you have requested could not be found or the URL has been typed incorrectly. Please try some of our popular searches.

Available in Gloss black/white & Light oak/dark wood

250 DVDs is a fair amount of games/films.

                          We use four of these.

I don't know if Atlantic distributes in the UK or not, but it's something you could look in to.

Although I will second Ascender's point, made earlier: When I bought one of these, it was ungodly how much stuff I could put in it, and when I had to buy a second I went ahead and bought a third because, well, might as well be future proof, right?

After we ran out of room in the fourth, we moved to these and are putting all of our dvds, games, etc into sleeves and then into boxes from Ikea, because, honestly, having every damn wall in our apartment covered with DVD spines looks godawful.

We're not quite going to the shoving-them-all-into-binders extreme though.
