Are any of Roger Moore's outings as 007 worth bothering with? I'll always have a soft spot for his version of Bond as its the one i grew up with. However i now take my Bond much moore (groan) seriously, prehaps too seriously and dissmiss the Moore Bond's as crappy comedy capers but i now have all the other Bond films i want thus im looking in Mr Moore's direction for Moore (sorry) also is On Her Majestys Secret Service worth getting?

Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun are great films imo. That's not just nostalgia, the deep south and Carribean seventies settings make the films.
I've also got a soft spot for The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. The last three (For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy and A View to a Kill) are pretty rubbish though and are only really watchable in that 'had too much to eat and fall asleep on the sofa on a bank holiday afternoon' kind of way.
OHMSS is great, but completely unlike any other Bond film. George Lazenby is all wrong, but Telly Savalas and Diana Rigg are aces.

I always found it a bit odd when people got all excited about Casino Royale featuring a Bond that was closer to the character in the books and more 'real' etc. when OHMSS had already done exactly that.

Lazenby comes across as being too 'nice' for the role. It's partly because of his model looks, but even when he's trying to be angry or upset, I just want to give him a cuddle.
It's also because unlike Moore, he wasn't given the oppurtunity to reboot the role for himself (and didn't have the benefit of following himself or the slapstick Diamonds Are Forever). He sort of feels like a supply teacher standing in for Connery.
Thankfully the rest of the film is great and his performance isn't offensive. It's just a bit......nice.
