GPS - Party over in 2010?

Looks like GPS will lose its WW reliable coverage soon. Armaggedonoutofhere.

I've never had a tom tom or anything. (I've always been able to just memorise directions after looking at them on a map. Most places are no more than 5 junctions/turnings from a major motorway or A-road).

However Lucy just got one for running so she can see how fast/far she goes (lots of off road through fields round here so can't measure with car). Bit of a bummer if it stops working reliably.

so we have a US military program running late, suffering from funding shortages and then we see a scare story that it will all stop working and poor civilians will suffer ?

you don't smell a scare story rat here Charles from interested parties ?

Thus the question mark. It's no big deal to me personally if they stop working. I imagine a whole bunch of companies will be scuppered which might affect me.
