Bruce Lee might have been one hell of Martial artists, he wasn't a great fight choreographer, rubbish at stunts and his films not that great. Sammo Hung was so much better and even did Bruce Lee style better in his Enter the Fat Dragon

Sammo is the real BIG BROTHER and the real SiFu

Yeah Bruce Lee's films are mostly awful to be fair. ETD is the only one I really like. That one where he goes to Rome is just about watchable if you are really, really stoned.

I can't argue with that. Sammo is amazing.
Check the Fu thread to see how much I gush about him. Part of me wants him to win his fight with Lee at the start!

I get what you're saying, but I like ETD because it's so much more than a bunch of blokes fighting. It's more than the sum of all its parts, for me.

@prinnysquad - I think your most important part there is that you like it. In all honesty, if someone has to explain to you why it's not is good as people say, who cares? If it's rated (and it is) then it entertained people, it resonated with people, it was cool to them. I don't know who Paul is but he can go take it somewhere else.
Paul is a freelancer who has an excellent knowledge of the genre. He reviews really obscure stuff, keeping some old Korean and Taiwanese stuff alive. He’s a top, top bloke. I was a bit surprised to see him diss ETD, but he’s earned some grace for years of great reviews. I found his article funny rather than upsetting, thankfully! Thanks for the reply, Dogg. You are absolutely correct in what you say.

Fist of Fury is my favourite. When Bruce busts into the rival school....

It’s acknowledged that Bruce Lee wasn’t a great choreographer. Yet. He was a quick learner so it’s possible he may have improved. Sammo, Pops, Woo ping et al were FAR superior (although mostly a few years down the line).

Jackie Chan is my hero, but I give it to Sammo for how he shaped the early years of Kung Fu cinema Even his early films like 1972 Hapkido, the fight choreography was so much better and far more skilled than anything Bruce did on screen . I have respect for Bruce off the screen, but Sammo made the better films even in the early years imo

The only value I could see to this is if Sony were making it but as a tie in with Parappa the Rappa as a Chop Chop Master Onion prequel.

I know that sounds daft... but they'd totally make it.

I really want to watch Enter the Dragon but I don't think I own it.

My fave of his films is also Fist of Fury and it also ties in to Legend of a Fighter and Fist of Legend.

Bruce Lee's films don't have the best choreography but he had charisma and screen presence. It's also a myth that they pushed in the West that his death lead to a crash in the kung fu film industry that's not true at all if you look at all the HK productions.

It's on Prime if you have it, mate.
I have the DVD because there's a bunch of interesting extras that I naturally never got around to watching.

Other than ETD, I really like the original footage from Game of Death with Lee fighting the different styles and using the flexibility of JKD to beat them.

Some nice fights in his other films but the bits in-between are painful, like that bit with the Italian prostitute in Way of the Dragon. Oof.

                          I don't have Prime...

Was she a prostitute in that film? Only seen it once years ago.

You surely like Fist of Fury? I think there's some alternate cuts of Game of Death I might even have one. They're probably all incorporated in some release as bonus footage.

I like Game of Death 2 or Tower of Death even though it's exploitation but it does feature Yuen Biao's doubling. Would love to watch it again not sure if I have it.

It's £1 and up at CEX, so go treat yourself!

Yeah, there's all that gurning when he finds out that the beautiful woman flirting with him is a prostitute. I can't believe you forgot there's boobs!

The GoD footage was discovered by Bey Logan in the Golden Harvest vaults and is a standalone feature on the SE DVD.

Here's the whole thing, though, nunchaku fight and everything!

I never forgot that there was nudity in Way of the Dragon but I never figured out she was a hooker. Saw it a long time ago.

There are alternate cuts of Game of Death. I know Bey Logan found some stuff but I can't remember what other footage or differences there are. One of them might be labelled as workprint I just can't remember at all.

Pretty cool. Loved how he hit his hand in the stick fight, one of the first things they teach you in eskrima. Dan Inosanto what a legend.
