I keep reading this as 'The threat of the future'

Therefor, I predict a planet of the apes stylee planetary takeover by 2020.

I have spoken, so shall it be!

Science can now control the weather:-

The holy grail of water in the desert is a step closer after scientists employed by the ruler of Abu Dhabi claim to have generated a series of downpours.

We knew that already though right....?

My question is if Weathertec can make rain, who owns that rain?

More robot based lunacy from our insane friends at DARPA:

Looks like a lot of fun.

Those crazies are at it still they want to make this

This will be chasing your down as you run in fear.

The CHEETAH robot will have four legs, a flexible spine, an articulated head/neck, and possibly a tail.
It will run fast: faster than any existing legged robot and faster than the fastest human runners. In
addition to top speed, the CHEETAH robot will be designed to make tight turns so it can zigzag to chase
or evade, and it will accelerate rapidly, starting and stopping on a dime. Like ATLAS, it will leverage
the advanced control software and high-tech mechanical and electrical systems that Boston Dynamics
created for previous robots, such as BigDog, PETMAN and others
Oh yes, also this headless abomination will be gunning down your children as your cities burn.

“Unlike Honda’s Asimo and most other humanoid robots you’ve seen, ATLAS will walk like a
man, using a heal-to-toe walking motion, long strides and dynamic transfer of weight on each
step,” explains Rob Playter, the ATLAS principal investigator and VP of Engineering at Boston
Dynamics. “We have already achieved some advanced behavior in PETMAN, an
anthropomorphic robot we developed for the Army, so ATLAS can get a let up on the problem
                by leveraging the PETMAN results.”

It's obvious that they didn't put a head on it because then we'd all recognise it instantly:

Edit: That other one looks weirdly familiar too

That hand using the tweezers was awesome.

...And is it me or did they just put some whirry bits into a fleshlight to make a moving mouth?

That's what it looks like .Pleasurebot 1.0 is on it's way! What's creepier is that they are trying to make something talk with a fully analog , synthetic , functional set of vocal chords, nasal cavity and throat/mouth muscles. It's hardly sounding human right now, but imagine how creepy that'll be when they manage to get it pronouncing things!

The mouth thing was weird but the hand was pretty awesome, and slighty scary too.

                              IBM produces first brain chips

IBM's processors replicate the system of synaptic connections found in the human brain

IBM has developed a microprocessor which it claims comes closer than ever to replicating the human brain.
