That Thor steelbook looks really nice there, Neil.

Don't often see a minamilist front cover like that for a big Hollywood film.

    Is it a retailer exclusive?

The 3d version of the Blu Ray has the same cover I think.

Unfortunatley I got the standard triple play version which has loads of crappy heads on it and Thor in the middle looking like hes crouching down to have a poo.

About Robocop, are you guys referring to the 2 disc US edition? Because I'm sure the Criterion dvd didn't have the extended scenes, if I remember right. I think there's an unreleased Sony Blu Ray version out there, since they (or some other distributor) had authored the disc but couldn't release it due to not actually having the rights.

Might go off topic a bit here, but besides renting, I remember ex-rental VHS copies used to cost a fortune in the UK when advertised in film mags, so when the retail system started taking off the first adult films I bought were Commando and Robocop. The first VHS I bought was actually Transformers the Movie, as I wasn't lucky enough to see it at the cinema.

I remember buying Commando at WH Smiths, looked nervously at the age rating, walked up to the counter (probably aged 10), and the woman said, 'You can't buy this!'. I said, 'Errrm, it's a present. A present.... for my cousin', and she sold it to me. Then about 7 years later a girl just about a year older than me, at Smiths, tried to stop me buying a copy of Manga Mania as she thought it was a porn mag, LOL.

Going back to Robocop, I had to visit London at the age of 8 / 9, and the family friends' house I stayed at for a night, the son was the first real pirate I met in my life. He opened up a closet and he had Predator, Robocop, everything. Robocop hadn't been released here yet, but I watched it and the obsession took hold firmly. I remember telling my friends at school about it the next week, like, 'You have to watch this, he's a a robot, a cop, it's crazy!'.

From what I recall, the Criterion edition was a big deal back in the day because it was the first time the film had been released uncut. Not sure if that's the same as any Extended Scenes you're referring to, but all the gore was there - the first ED209 kill, Murphy's brain splatter and arm blown off shots, blood spraying out of Clarence's neck. Possibly a few more I can't recall.

OK, I have seen the Criterion but didn't remember any of that, that's pretty much the same stuff on the special edition, except the picture's cleaner than the Criterion and a different aspect ratio. It has a couple of very short deleted scenes, one of which is pretty funny, but the special features are great- interviews with the villains being great. Also, I remember 2000AD readers complaining of plagiarism when Robocop came out, but when you see the making of the suit special, the early suit is clearly a direct clone of Judge Dredd in some ways- they could never have got away with it, I wonder what they were thinking. I wish Blu Ray releases always had the extras from the dvds.

I used to own the Criterion dvd release of Robocop and it definitely features added violence/gore. ED209's boardroom mash-up seemed to last for ages. Really over the top

                Yeah it's a HMV Exclusive.
I really like the case much nicer than the standard edition

Lol it is WAY OTT isn't it?
                But it's so awesome.
I actually didn't realise it was like that till I bought the DVD Trilogy back in the day as it came with the Special edition & I was a little taken aback by it but now I couldn't watch it without

Glad to hear the BR is the same cut so I must get round to watching it again.

                        Lol sorry

Nice get on the Green Hornet Steelbook as well they looks pretty classy.

Whilst we are on the green theme...today's new arrival for me:

                        Green Lantern Steelbook

Much to my disgust they have added the blue bar right across the top of the steel book & not made it a cardboard slip like Thor or Fast 5

However they have redeemed themselves slightly by including a new downloadable skin for Batman: Arkham City

You get Batman in the Sinestro Corps colours

Anyway will be giving this a watch over the weekend.

Oooh, a good buy. Did you buy them individually? I would have thought getting one of the sets would work out cheaper, no?

Got them for about 10 quids each, which is pretty cheap here. Could've gotten them cheaper online, but really felt like 'Trekking' out this weekend, and didn't want to wait.
