You either need custom firmware or an older revision.

I didn't want to go down that route, so bought a proper card.

I'm hoping when they stop supporting the Vita, Sony make those cards unlocked.

I always get hit when I order from P-A. You might as well order from Amazon Japan, should be the cheapest option.

You can check by putting the stuff you want in the shopping cart and start the checkout proccess. You have to pay for everything (including import fees) up front which I kinda prefer to having to pay for items + shipping first and then whatever extra later.

Any suggestions for Vita games? So far I have these (the majority being digital), I only got my 1st *physical game a few weeks back! This led to a mad shopping spree and a further 12 tiny cases of Vita.

You've got a lot of great titles already. Do you also own Persona 4: The Golden already? Its one of the best JRPGs on the portable. There's also Lost Dimension which I like but its admittedly prone to occasional slowdown during play.

Not really news but Sony has confirmed again that they aren't pursuing a third handheld. They do however also confirm that 2019 will see the final produced hardware unit for Vita ship.

I've given this a try now.

Following the instructions on https://vita.hacks.guide/ made everything extremely easy and using a version 3 SD2VITA I now have a 128GB micro SD card installed in my game card slot. Everything seems to be running fine and by using a homebrew app called Adrenaline I can boot into PSP mode, similar to booting into Wii mode on a WiiU and run all of my PSP ISOs. I played some Initial D: Street Stage on my Vita earlier today

Ideally I'd like to have it installed via the 3G module on my Vita 1000 so I can still have access to the game card slot but that's probably beyond my very limited expertise.
