Where do people get their news?

Just wondering where other people get their news? Like what sites do you prefer, and do you use RSS feeds?

I've recently started to use RSS feeds again, and I'm looking for places to add. I've got sources for "real" news like the BBC etc. but where do people get their news for gaming, anime and entertainment?

Ars Technica UK: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ArsTechnicaUk
Gamespot https://www.gamespot.com/feeds/news/
Xbox Live's Major Nelson http://feeds.feedburner.com/MajorNelson
Engadget RSS Feed http://www.engadget.com/rss.xml

I have more that just don't seem to work now as I've found that many RSS feeds aren't being maintained these days.

This might be of interest, but I haven't checked to see how active they are yet: https://blog.feedspot.com/video_game_rss_feeds/

RSS no, Twitter yes - I find it's great for aggregating this kind of content. I follow a couple of sites like Gematsu and Siliconera, but get a lot more out of following journalists and other people who keep a close finger on the pulse and have similar tastes to my own.

I haven’t bothered with RSS for years now. I’m not sure it’s nearly as much of a thing as it used to be - as fuse suggests, it’s been replaced by Twitter really.

Twitter is useful but I find I end up in an endless scroll hole all too easily with it. I tend to make the rounds of Eurogamer, The Verge and the Guardian primarily. They’re kinda my digital magazines/newspapers, and I simply go directly to their websites to read them.

I’m not a fan of broader aggregation tools like Apple News because while you get a spread of views, I find the lack of an overall editorial direction to make everything feel rather generic and interchangeable. Plus you end up reading crappy sites like Gearnuke where even the simplest news story can be poorly written, which I hate.

Honestly, for gaming largely Era. The main sites like Eurogamer etc tend to miss half the announcements these days and even then update far slower.

For actual news mainly Guardian even though it's become a heavily biased tabloid rag of its own styling

I like https://n4g.com/ because it gets info from multiple sources from the big guys to little blogs and sometimes it's nice to read an opinion piece.

I avoid the comments though, and just go straight to the articles.

EDIT: for film and ents news, I let Superman Falls do the legwork.
I've said it before and don't want to make him blush, but I really appreciate all the info he blesses us with.

I made an effort to avoid reading or watching the news this year. Its not good for you.

Like others have said, I get most of my movie news and such from Superman Falls

Keep it up!

Sky news, BBC, Twitter. There are some good journalists on Twitter (Beth Rigby, Lewis Goodall, Faisal Islam) who I find very informative.

I only visit gamingonlinux for current gaming, being on Linux there isn't much point in me looking anywhere else since they have almost every thing covered for my OS.
Some thing else that has really taken my interest in the last few years is what Valve are doing in the FOSS and Linux world, and again GOL is the perfect place for reading about what they are up too.

For real news, if such a thing exists, I browse Davidicke.com headlines simply because they cherry pick and link the important headlines from everywhere else.
I'm not a David Icke follower by the way, it's just a great place to read news without having to wade through the rot-your-brain celebrity gossip and "make yourself thin in 2 weeks" ****e you find on every other news site.

Yeah, there's no celeb gossip, but they make up for it with insane lizard-people theories and "Jews are evil" horse**** instead.

Not on the front headline pages they don't, you're thinking of the idiots on the forums.
