Sora amiibo officially released today, bringing to an end the Super Smash Bros. Collection after a decade (started in November 2014 after the release of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and WiiU in September of that year), with 94 figurines released for the series in that time.
I wonder if Switch 2 will bring with it something of a relaunch of Amiibo?
With so many of the supporting games approaching a point where they will be left behind it seems like a good time to refresh interest in both. A more heavily promoted functionality for Mario Kart 9 for example whilst also making the figures more widely in demand again.

I don't know about a "relaunch" (does a toy line that's likely knocking on 100m global lifetime units sold need to be relaunched?) but a new flagship game to create a new amiibo series line alongside certainly could work.
...then again, reprinting the Smash collection for those who haven't yet fully collected is also bank too. Either way, I'm not sure how Nintendo lose with amiibo when amiibo fatigue doesn't appear to have set in for the majority.
Possibly, toy lines are often refreshed and relaunched due to how aggressive a competition market it is. Amiibo has done incredibly well especially in the face of the wider field of rival figures having since died off. When Switch 2 launches it will be going into its 11th year on the market with a lot of characters having been issued, in some instances multiple times. It would be particularly interesting to see if all these years later whether there's a more advanced version of them possible.

Still going for RRP (£10-11 converted) on Amazon JPN though. But yes, amiibo scalping sucks and will likely continue until Nintendo get serious about manufacturing them and stop with their old-school artificial demand engineering tactics garbage.

A lot of characters would've been issued, sure. But like I alluded to, that doesn't mean that every consumer will have every amiibo that they want. Reissuing will still be enough for Nintendo to do very well out of it.
But as you say, it'll definitely be interesting to see how creative Nintendo will be come the next generation of their flagship console hardware. I just think that amiibo wouldn't have lasted a decade if the appetite for them wasn't consistently there.
Nintendo uk store has just reprinted a ton of older amiibo there's like 100 of them including some really pricy ones that were out of print like the pikmin collection one, even on amazon japan that one was getting close to £100 just for a used one. Grabbed a few for their £12.99 original price tags, anyone interested might want to grab them sooner than later as some are already gone.
