Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

I'm interested in Dracula X on the PCE but how does it compare to SOTN? I completed it but thought it was a bit of a slog and don't really like the Metrovania style Castlevania games.

I love the 'Vania series, the PCE Dracula X is my fave, though I love SOTN too. I think Dracula X gets the balance right, between being open and structured. If that doesn't makes sense it's like a NES Vania with the odd multiple path which is right imo.

If you found SOTN a bit of a slog, then I'd strongly urge you to try Dracula X as you'd probably find it about right for you.
