Cavil is bland. If they played it serious with him it would be so dull. But conversely, I think he could work for a cheesy Roger Moore style Bond. He’s quite naff and I think if they put him in a loud tweed jacket and gave him some lascivious, self parodying quips I think it could be quite interesting.

Bill Murray as Felix Leiter. Owen Wilson as a down on his luck Elon Musk style California tech guru recruited as Q. I’m not even joking, I’d love something weird, pulpy and self referential like this. The series takes itself so effing seriously right now it bores me to tears. I’d like something that takes it back to ****ty, weird, funny Bond, and knows it’s doing it and it does it smartly.

    Theyll never do it though.

A lot of Craig films in the upper half there

I need to finish ranking mine, Craig's entries are mostly fine but middling for me. Almost never hitting the highs but not facing the lows because the franchise has gone so stupid in the past. I'd watch Die Another Day over Skyfall for instance, Skyfall is the better made film but Craig's entries lack that core element that even DAD has in places, fun.

I have heard of True Detective. It was well directed.

The James Bond franchise has always been a family business and has been ruled by executive producer Barbara Broccoli for decades now, taking over from her father Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli and fiercely protective of the brand and films. She signs off on every key Bond decision and that control makes her not only one of […]

Probably sick of hearing about it, Barbara Broccoli speaks saying people can forget ever getting a female Bond

Even though Craig and new director Cary Fukunaga are locked for the next James Bond film shooting next year, that hasn’t stopped British tabloid speculation about Craig’s successor when the actor departs the role which he’s expected to film for the last time next year. The Sun this weekend reports that with the success of […]

I know I'm committing the same sin, but I wish news outlets would stop mouthpiecing every bit of obviously made up twaddle for Bond that The Sun brainfarts onto page

Yeah, in the same week we've had "Odds slashed for Hiddleston as Bond!" and "Barbera Broccoli asks Richard Madden to be Bond!"

Daniel Craig still has one more James Bond film in him to shoot next year, but once that’s done the question will once again turn to the recasting of the role and where the series will go next. Survey company Morning Consult recently conducted a survey of Americans and how they feel about the British […]

An American survey company has conducted a survey to gauge American opinion of James Bond and the options for recasting the role in future. It's results found:

-63% would support the specific casting of Idris Elba (21% outright opposing)
-52% would support the casting of a black Bond (29% outright opposing)
-39% would support the casting of a Hispanic Bond (39% outright opposing)
-37% would support the casting of an Asian Bond (41% outright opposing)
-37% would support the casting of a female Bond (48% outright opposing)
-28% would support the casting of a gay Bond (52% outright opposing)

The approval ratings for existing Bonds were also polled:

                    -82%: Sean Connery
                    -81%: Pierce Brosnan
                    -74%: Roger Moore
                    -71%: Daniel Craig
                    -49%: Timothy Dalton
                    -31%: George Lazenby

Nice to see Brosnan place well but people should respect the Dalton

The survey also polled the favourite ten movies:

                    01 - Goldfinger
02 - From Russia With Love
03 - Live and Let Die
                    04 - Diamonds Are Forever
05 - For Your Eyes Only
                    06 - Casino Royale
07 - You Only Live Twice
08 - The Man With the Golden Gun
                    09 - Dr No
10 - The Spy Who Loved Me

                    The bottom five were:

                    -On Her Majesty's Secret Service
                    -Quantum of Solace
                    -Moonraker
                    -Spectre
                    -The Living Daylights

I would agree with most of that,
But would have Moore and Dalton above Craig and Brosnan.

Personally, I like the idea of James Bond being one person.
Yes, they've rebooted it, but it's still, theoretically, the same person but born in a different time.

I have no issue with them re-issuing the 007 agent number to a different person.
It's worked for Doctor Who for sci-fi reasons, but keeping James Bond a bit more static and trying different ideas out with 007 is fine with me.

They'd have to reboot it to start messing with the casting, I'm still not sure why they bothered rebooting the narrative in the first place rather than just stick with not directly addressing it. Now they're practically compelled to directly address it or discard it once Craig goes.

The other week filmmaker Cary Fukunaga says the script for the next James Bond film is still being worked on, and as a result he couldn’t say whether any of the previous film’s co-stars would be returning alongside Daniel Craig. In fact, the “True Detective” and “Jane Eyre” helmer quite effectively shot down rumors of […]

Lea Seydoux is returning which always seemed a given. They could maybe pull a Mission Impossible and have her head off to live a new life later on, maybe her turn against Bond? I don't want to see her bumped off though, her character was a gratingly inferior Vesper clone in the last film so any more Vesper/OHMSS remaking isn't welcome for me.
