Little Things That Irk You VI: The Rage Awakens

The small screen is one of the reasons I haven't updated. I tend to keep my phone in one of these:

... and I hated how Apple's newer phones are both fragile and too large. I see people with an iPhone 10 and to me, that's a tablet, not a phone!

Plus I tend to buy phones second-hand, so that affects things somewhat.

You could always get an iPhone SE. It's a 5 with the internals of the 6... Or 6s, I forget. They're pretty inexpensive used too.

6s internals. I have a 16gb iPhone too, 6s+. It's useless, I can't install anything. They should never have been selling 16gb handsets by this point. Ah well

Got my daughter a 64GB SE 2 1/2 years ago, in preference to a 16GB 6. Still going fine and she doesn't want to upgrade. If she'd had the 16GB 6 I'm sure she'd need to replace it by now. Generally Apple really suck these days.

But that storage bump REALLY impacts their 1000% profit margin, have some heart Brad, Apple are only a Trillion dollar company after all, yes that Trillion.

Certain pronunciation grates.

I was listening to Five Live this morning. A woman was on talking about her book.

Now, being a Northern monkey, I pronounce it ‘book’, as in ‘moon’. With the ‘oo’ sound.
Those of the more Southern persuasion pronounce it ‘buck’. Fair enough. Like the ‘oo’ sound in ‘look’.

This woman pronounced it ‘berk’. What the hell are you doing, man? Berk ffs.

I got told off by my form tutor minutes into starting secondary school by scoffing and questioning when I heard her say "take out your books" (moon, oo)
I had moved up north from Essex to Cleveland just over a week prior and it was the first time I had ever heard anyone say 'book' like that and I got scolded verbally saying I had to catch up good and sharp with how they talk up north.

I was scared and also bullied to hell that year. Got along very well with that teacher afterwards though, still see her sometimes her today.

Berk though, thats a new one.
