First time I played wipeout I felt sick as anything for at least 5 hours (went to bed feeling sick). Next time hardly at all, then all anti sickness modes off and no sickness at all even with 2 hour sessions.

Will check re: HUD, not sure.

Aye the PS Worlds and camera bundle will be a V2 headset.
£179.99 new is a damn good deal.

Apparently, we "need" a new patio door...

@Brad when you're in VR mode do they take off all the HUD stuff so its pure visuals? For some reason you couldn't strip the HUD on PS4 like you could on the PSP and without it it really amps the immersion as you get wall to wall visuals at full speed.
The HUD is what you would see if you were sitting in one of the craft.

Didn't have as much time last night so continued solely with a game I'd started the tutorial of the night before - RIGS

Finished the incredibly dull tutorial and played a match or two and I feel like the game sums up the line of thinking that the experience of VR can make a game a unique game but it can't make it a good one. RIGS is functional but it's just a very dull game, take away the VR element and your mind would probably dry up and shrivel with it. I'm going to give it another bash but as it stands I can see why it failed to hold onto its userbase well.

Wipeout. Unbefreakinglievable. And I've always, ALWAYS hated wipeout. Graphically it's the real stunner so far as well.

Wipeout is easily the best VR title. It's nothing like Wipeout either.

Agreed, it's a different game. I tried Dirt Rally last night. First the bad, as supes pointed out VR can't make a game genre you don't like into one you do. Turns out I still don't really enjoy rally games. However, once again it's a game changer because now you can use the in-car view and it gives you what an in-car view is supposed to do i.e. it's not just bonnet cam set back a bit with a load of fixed framing getting in the way of your visibility.

Back to wipeout, being able to look anywhere and everywhere without hitting any controls makes getting the perfect racing line better and the immersion is unreal. I suspect the 120fps update rate allows much faster lap times than are possible when viewing in pancake mode too.

I played the Battlefront Rogue One VR mission today. Childhood dreams of being a rebel X-Wing pilot fighting the Empire? Tick!

Had an interesting thought. Since the PSVR connects via micro USB and HDMI cables, couldn't they reuse it for PS5 games in the future? Technically, it's just a display in a headmount right? The PS4 is doing all the work for what you see inside. I've already hooked the PSVR up via PC using Trinus and pushed it way further than anything the PS4 could do.

Anyways, anyone tried porn on it yet?

Yeah, it's possible Sony could make PS5 compatible with it. I think they probably will, too, rather than fracturing an already limited user base. An upgrade headset would still likely come along down the line but games could be compatible with both.

This is SONY. There will be no PSVR compatability with PS5. Stop dreaming.

In all honesty I can easily imagine there will be no VR on PS5 at all within the first two years. The existing userbase is too small for them to worry about and they'll be busy throwing their resources behind the main system and software. It's one of the main reasons I wanted to try it out now as once it's done it's likely done for a long while. When/If they bring PSVR to PS5 they probably could patch in support for the existing headset as a good will gesture but I imagine everything will go towards PSVR2.

I'm not sure I'd mind that either too much, the PSVR headset does work well but there are multiple areas for large improvement and if I had PSVR at that time it'd be nice to be able to jump right in on stuff but it's hard to imagine many wouldn't be eyeing up an upgrade anyway by then. Sony will likely want to make it look like a fresh product too for launch rather than a direct continuation of PSVR to try and capture some hype as the existing VR userbase is not a rolling ball of adoption picking up momentum, it's an optional peripheral no different than Kinect was in market terms making PSVR2 look like a chancey proposition as it is.

It's why I'm keen to get it running on PC as I imagine that's were its true future lies. It's all too easy to imagine Sony won't release a VR option on PS5 at all or if they do it'll be in similar terms as this gen. 100% though I expect for those fully committed to VR, the PS5 reveal is going to disappoint.
