Does it? I played the game with a regular controller back in ‘92.

Yeah, Sim City is perfectly playable with a joypad. It was released years before the Mario Paint mouse and doesn't support it. (Although it seems like the conversion of Sim City 2000 on the system didn't support it either.)

Anyway, have to admit that I never really enjoyed Super Mario Kart. I liked the balloon battle mode, and only on two of the arenas, never really the normal racing. Just didn't do it for me back then, and the people I've showed it to more recently on my Super Famicom (non-gamers who've played Mario Kart on the Wii and Switch) act like I'm showing them a primitive game like Pong or something.

(I really, really liked Stunt Race FX back in the mid 90s, but will be first to admit that it's aged awfully!)

The battle mode in Metal Warriors is still quite fun, since it's an unique experience.

Also, Kirby Dreamland 3's crayon graphics, melodic soundtrack and "pet system" gameplay still holds up.

And finally, Wild Guns is a neat SNES exclusive, with its old west + futuristic theme and arcade-ish feel.

Yeah, it's a great game. I remember it really surprising me back in the day because I hadn't heard about it, so there wasn't any hype or expectations The graphics and music are up there with the best examples on the machine. It also plays well; although it takes a while to get used to the controls. I will be booting it up on my Everdrive next time I have a SNES session.

Cricket games aren't for everybody, but Super International Cricket is my favourite of all time.

Skyblazer – will have to give that a play at long last. Wasn’t in my radar back then as Super Play gave it a lukewarm review, but very open trying it now. Graphics look really nice, looking at HG101’s article on the game.

                  Super-exploitable, though.

Another unsung gem that has nice crisp graphics.

Ninja Warriors is second only to SOR2.
