RIP Rick Dickinson - Legendary Sinclair Computer Designer
Some very sad news today, with the passing of Rick Dickinson The legendary industrial designer who designed a number of computers for the Sinclair, The ZX 80, 81, Speccy and QL (and also some amazing prototypes), and many other projects too.
I once saw a great interview with him, where he talked about the process of cramming all the text, commands and logos on the speccy 48k keyboard. Not only was a vast amount of information on a load of small keys, it also looked awesome.
What a shame. Loved all those designs. Keep meaning to get a QL at some point but I'm short on space. Modern computer designs just seem to advance the current trend; thinner, more aluminium, or more lights in a see-thru case. Back then they were all different.
