The Forza date is a typo Is it locked in for 02 Oct?
I think that really is the only game MS has coming out this year...

Bayonetta 3 was absent unsurprisingly, as was that No More Heroes side-game.

      Project Octopath.
      Smash.
      Mario Tennis.
      Mario Party.
      Pokemon.

Gotta get that riff-raff out the way first. Hopefully E3 2019 isn't all about Animal Crossing.

Well SOMETHING needs to be all about Animal Crossing. They're really dragging their feet with this one. AC is such a long term game too that it's best not to come too late in the system's life.

I do get where you're coming from with MS, but I'm not bothered with any of those Switch games you listed and they definitely have a certain child-friendly lean to them.

Don't forget that MS have all the cross-platform games also coming to them, the majority of which Nintendon't, plus all the Games Pass and Games with Gold stuff.

They're definitely thinking about the long game though and have acquired another five developers:

The Initiative: This entirely new Santa Monica, California-based studio is being headed up by Darrell Gallagher, former studio head at Crystal Dynamics, of Tomb Raider fame. His charter at The Initiative is to assemble “world-class talent to create groundbreaking new game experiences.”

Undead Labs: The Seattle-based team behind State of Decay and State of Decay 2, both Xbox/PC exclusives, is officially joining the Microsoft fold. Undead Labs is headed up by Jeff Strain, who cut his teeth at Blizzard and ArenaNet before striking out on his own.
Playground Games: The U.K.-based team behind the Xbox/PC-exclusive Forza Horizon series is similarly making its Microsoft relationship permanent. Spencer noted that the studio has been limited to Forza Horizon games, but it will now bring its “open-world expertise to an entirely new project.”

Ninja Theory: Spencer first worked with Ninja Theory for Kung-Fu Chaos back in the early Xbox days. And now, the storied developer behind Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice — as well as DmC: Devil May Cry, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and the PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword — is a Microsoft first-party developer.

Compulsion Games: The Canadian developer behind the upcoming We Happy Few joins Microsoft just in advance of the game’s August release. That title is being published by Gearbox for both Xbox One, Windows and PlayStation 4; it’s unclear if Microsoft’s acquisition will change those plans.

Got to admire Nintendo's commitment to tackling that hacking of the Nintendo Switch. Can't pirate games if they don't release any!

The only Switch game that had me interested was Daemon X Machina .

It comes from Armored Core producer Kenichiro Tsukuda, and includes character designs by Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates), Mech concept designs, meanwhile, have been created by Shōji Kawamori - who provided concepts for Armored Core and the Super Dimension Fortress Macross series.

Seems to be, all the gaming sites are reporting that date.

Kawamori Shouji IS Macross, not just some guy who provided concepts. That's not an inaccuracy on your part though QC, just the Nintendo info.

This looks like something I could happily get into, very Another Century's Episode vibe from it.

Yeah, I thought they played that part down a bit too!

He also helped design Optimus Prime for chuff's sake!

Coming back around to Animal Crossing - I kind of expect Nintendo will skip next year too and allow Pokémon RPG and its connectivity be the focus in which case they might as well not bother again

Microsoft have acquired those developers because of the "second-party future" that is being talked about. The theory is that AAA videogames will become like Netflix or Spotify, i.e. the only way to make money is to own a service that provides them to people, and employ studios to make content for it. They're planning to deal with that, if it happens.

It sounds like Microsoft have got GaaS.

On Era they're discussing that after the Nintendo Presentation Nintendo's Share Price apparently fell by 7%, the concern being that Nintendo fails to have the strength of line up to hit the 20m sales projection they set themselves. Apparently sales since January failed to improve on last year in the way they expected after supply of the system was ironed out to meet demand so they were banking on a loaded second half of 2018 which is looking like is off the cards now.

                              Not surprising if true.
