Yep, Rhodes was right. He just wasn't a natural leader and his methods were his downfall. Romero is such a huge influence on me and I have done so many zombie related things over the years, inspired by the world he created. He was a true master at times. I always felt there was one more excellent zombie movie in him and it's a shame we'll never get to see it.

What I liked about Savini effects is how he liked to use as much of the actor or actress body and build a fake prop around them. I really loved the gag of having a Zombie with its most of its head missing while the brain is exposed in Day Of the Dead
It was only until I got Scream Greats on import decades later, that I was able to see how Savini achieved that effect: it both quite clever and simple too how it was done to

Martin Landau, 89. I swear to god I thought he died a few years back
Shame, I enjoyed him in Space 1999.

    RIP Martin.

Nice words . Also thought it was a fantastic bit of acting from Joe Pilato, he played that part brilliantly and gave an outstanding performance

These effects will never be bettered

Watched Rogue Nation at the weekend; thought it was bad overall, if I'm honest, but it's a testament to the original show that the best moment was the customary M:I movie "steal the thing that can't be stolen" bit. That's a real winning formula. They need one of the films to just be that.

I like the amazing action sequences of the latter M:I movies, like Tom Cruise hanging off a plane, Tom Cruise jumping a car, Tom Cruise climbing a skyscraper, Tom Cruise in a motorbike chase, Tom Cruise on a.... Well, you get the idea, it's great action, but not as much of a team effort as the original show.

There were some amazing payoffs at the end where they'd double-switched a film when the plan went wrong or convincing someone they'd started armageddon by placing a picture around their bunker's periscope.

Frustratingly, it's the last couple of Fast & Furious films that have felt closest to an M:I team of specialists, although the discussion about how a team of carjackers from the 'Hood became expert shots, drivers, technicians, martial artists and so on is one for another day.

Back on topic, I didn't know Martin Landau was offered the role of Spock in Star Trek, but turned it down and his friend Leonard Nimoy got the part. Later on, when Landau left Mission: Impossible over a pay dispute, Leonard Nimoy joined the team!
