It was back in September when news of Telltale's troubles first broke. The company laid off 90 percent of its staff, many of whom were let go...
Skybound Games has picked up the rights to the Telltale TWD series. As a result development of the final two episodes has now resumed with many of the original writers brought on board to bring the series to its proper end.

Do we know what became of Telltale? I may have missed the end of that story but, given the total mess that happened, they may have wanted to keep things very quiet. Last I heard, they hadn't actually completely shut down but were retaining a small group to finish off some Netflix Minecraft thing. Was that the end of the story? Are they still going in this capacity but keeping a very low profile or did they actually shut?

They are confirmed as in bankruptcy - Wikipedia & GI.biz - although I think the GI.biz date sounds more accurate.
I'm sure I read somewhere that they did deliver (either partially of fully) their Netflix obligations in the 6-10 weeks between the 90% of staff being made redundant and then the final 25 being terminated (or it may have been axed as per Superman Falls). However I cannot find what I read now.
I don't know how US law works with regards to bankruptcy protection and whether that negates the Directors/Management/Owners from legal proceedings.

Now that the final episode is out, I have bought the final season of The Walking Dead. I’ll make a first play thread or maybe tag it onto another Walking Dead thread. Anyway, one big surprise right away was that, in spite of what happened to Telltale, their cloud save server still seems to be up and running so in theory you can carry over your saves from any system. I didn’t expect that.
Although I say in theory because one of Telltale’s final gifts to me was their tech corrupting my save during season 3 that, in the progress, lost all my choices all the way back from season 1 so it didn’t work for me.

Yep. And that just kept on going. Unexpectedly, the first ep of the Final Season runs really well on Switch. But I'll be expecting the bugs to kick in at some point.
Really struggling with the control though. I played all other seasons on iPad and it's pretty intuitive there. On Switch it's all huge button prompts and I keep missing them mostly because I have only had a few decades to get used to the fact that Nintendo doesn't know what order letters come in.
