Spent the weekend with a mix of md mini gaming and catching up on PS4. Dear god golden axe is bad, I swear Sega used only 3 frames of animation for the sprites, I know people go on about how it’s a classic but Jesus the md is capable of much more than this could only manage the first 2 stages before I turned it off not a fan of side scrolling beatemups as I find them mostly dull but this was painfully boring. Did enjoy Tant R though it has vibes of warioware before warioware was a thing. Also daimakimura was pretty awesome too, just as tricky as all the other versions but pleasing to play. Nearly got to the end of the first level, I’m going to need to properly sit down and devote practise to this one, also played vampire killer I can see why it’s held in high regard really enjoying that one which is saying something as castlevania games as usually not my thing.

On PS4 mopping up the extra stuff on dragon quest 11, got most of the hard to get recipe books. 3 mil in gold for buying various materials I’m gonna need for making all the best stuff and 5 mil in casino tokens for the same reason some of those high end items have crazy costs. Still crap at using the forge I either run out of focus or I overshoot need to learn how to do it properly. Need to farm skill seeds too as I’m level 99 with everyone now yet a few characters still don’t have enough points to unlock the last slot. About 30 hours into ninokuni II with my progress upto broadleaf but I’m still too weak by about 10 levels so I took a break and started the remaster of the ps3 ninokuni game, ended up binge playing and putting 13 hours in one sitting, got upto Hamlin before I turned it off in the early hours. The most RPG gaming I have done in ages

I love Golden Axe 2 because the music is great.

Fire Emblem Three Houses: I'm in a new phase of the game now (feels pretty much like the second half) and I'm liking where it's gone and how it's playing out. Around 40 hours in so far and still really enjoying it.

Finished REmake on 360 with Jill last night, adore it but the underground/lab bits start to sag at the end with too much of that godawful, unkillable 'Lisa Trevor' creature that really is no fun (WHY??!!) Was gonna go straight back in with Chris but decided to play INSIDE on XB1 and it's basically Limbo 2 and I'm hooked.

Just had a horrifically stressful puzzle involving a chain link fence and three rottweilers. Really tense and well done, it actually felt like an ordeal and I felt genuine relief when I'd finally got through that bloody door!!!

And now it rewards me with some kind of bathyscaphe, a bathysphere to be more exact. How odd.

Wrong dog breed. They're more like Dobermanns. Fending some off with a torch right now. Very scary, well realised. Sadly one of those games I probably won't go back to once I'm done with it but a great little experience while it lasts.

Current bit feels like Abe's Oddysee. But greyer.

Inside was quality. I'm hoping to give it a go again one day but nothing will match that first play-through.

That room full of square machines is easily one of the eeriest rooms I've seen in a game, gives off a proper Satanic vibe.

Not liking these upside-down water puzzles tho!

Yeah, the whole game has a constant feel of menace and dread, but never in an obvious way. It might be short but it's the epitome of all killer no filler.

Enjoying the subaqua teste I'm currently controlling. Never controlled a bollock in a game before. He needs to get it checked.

Completed it about 25mins after writing the above. It pulls out all its graphical beauty with the testicle rampage that comprises the last 15mins. STUNNING testicle detail and lighting, classy like REmake level subtle lighting.

                        Did I enjoy it? YES.

Would I play it again? NO

Only took about five good hours, all in. Was a GWG freebie a few months back, it has proved the best way to play it.

Decided in my head a gaming roster for next 7-10 days. Here it is:

                        1. Dear Esther Landmark Edition (XB1)
                        2. Gears of War Judgment (360)
                        3. Gears of War 4 (XB1)
                        4. Shenmue 1&2 (XB1)
                        5. Castlevania Symphony of the Night (360)

I'd rather play the latter on Xbox One because my 360 has loads of constant disconnects when connected to Live. I'm sure it's deliberate, it never used to be bad like this.

Anyhoo, I hear the 360 SOTN has more lag when played via XB1. Anyone let me know the score on this???

                        Comment

The main clincher is SOTN needs to be connected to Live to play it. The 360 connection drops out all the time these days, leading to constant restarts.

The XB1 connection is rock-solid. I'd rather play this for the lesser online annoyance...unless the lag really *does* make a difference???

Sick of all this lag talk. It makes me overanalyse.

Worst thing is I was weaned on dodgy 50hz MD and SNES and played with massive lag for yeeeeeears (I never owned an import SNES or MD).

I'm only worrying about it because it's toxic OCD gaming people raining on my parade.

You and your lag...you're all slags.

As a kid my first gaming set up, was my trusty speccy, connected to an old 12" black and white tv, probably a Thorn or Pye (it's still up the loft), and set up on dining room chair. People are far too obsessed on the delivery, rather than the games themselves.

Look at all those games you're going to play like some kind of Superman Falls!
