its either an operation to run out the clock to get the current PM's preferred outcome no deal, So usual Torry tactic and pretty much what May was doing. Or a Push to force a General Election, Borris is betting on there being more support for Torys and wants to win a General election and take back a Tory majority and solidify his current plans. His campaign would no doubt be run on how all the other party's are undemocratic and not acting on the "Will of the people"
The sad thing is we still have a two party system but while the Torys have no real opposition on the right. The left is currently split between the SNP, The greens, the Lib dem's and Labour. I really don't see a way for Labour to get into power and stop this so it falls to Lib Dem to move to center stage and come out with a blinding campaign and really gets behind remain.Last edited by Lebowski; 28-08-2019, 13:26.

However, people are suggesting Johnson is calling it now because it's the ideal time for it to occur to force a no-deal Brexit. This is particularly galling because Johnson is an unelected PM; so there's a triple-whammy of him being (1) unelected, (2) doing something cynically designed to shut down the democratic process and (3) doing it to support something not that many people agree with (even if half the country wanted Brexit, comparatively few wanted a "no-deal" Brexit).
