Because no matter how bad or not the aftershock of a No Deal Brexit is, even if it’s not actually that bad, I think history is going to come down pretty hard on this move.
Disaster capitalism, it's going to make a few rich people richer, which has always been the end game.

Yeah, it really has to be that. Some people here are going to make a lot of money. And then likely hold onto it free from any EU laws aiming to prevent tax avoidance.

Corbyn has written to the Queen to raise his concerns for Johnson's intentions.

its either an operation to run out the clock to get the current PM's preferred outcome no deal, So usual Torry tactic and pretty much what May was doing. Or a Push to force a General Election, Borris is betting on there being more support for Torys and wants to win a General election and take back a Tory majority and solidify his current plans. His campaign would no doubt be run on how all the other party's are undemocratic and not acting on the "Will of the people"

The sad thing is we still have a two party system but while the Torys have no real opposition on the right. The left is currently split between the SNP, The greens, the Lib dem's and Labour. I really don't see a way for Labour to get into power and stop this so it falls to Lib Dem to move to center stage and come out with a blinding campaign and really gets behind remain.

From my understanding, it is normal for the government to take a short "break" at this time of year. This is not in itself a problem; the break serves some useful purposes.

However, people are suggesting Johnson is calling it now because it's the ideal time for it to occur to force a no-deal Brexit. This is particularly galling because Johnson is an unelected PM; so there's a triple-whammy of him being (1) unelected, (2) doing something cynically designed to shut down the democratic process and (3) doing it to support something not that many people agree with (even if half the country wanted Brexit, comparatively few wanted a "no-deal" Brexit).

Just gonna say that the Queen really has proven what an utterly irredeemable POS she and the family are today. Unjustifiable that this bunch of glorified kardashians exist in the modern age. An enemy to their crumbling nation.

She probably doesn't want to point out that Johnson is unelected...

Does the royal family have any power to veto laws and take matters in their own hands if the current government is failing? Maybe they want to do something but have no legal basis to do so.

Probably behind closed doors, though the Queen will be the last monarch we ever have with the clout and backbone to be able to do so.

The clout but she certainly has no backbone for it.
