Positional gun games like that have never stopped being a thing. Silent Scope was one and almost all the recent Raw Thrills gun games use the same concept.

Aaaah, Silent Scope. One of my favourite games. Would definitely be in my fantasy arcade.

I remember playing Operation Thunderbolt at the services on the way to a school trip and got as far as saving the pilot on the plane, then had to get back on the coach. Gutted.

The cabinet design is sheer genius! I played the sequel recently in arcade and I’d forgotten just how cool a game it is. The home ports are enjoyable but can’t quite capture the same magic.

That's the thing, it's one of those games which can never receive a home port due to the specialised nature of the controller.

Makes me reflect on how there hasn't been a really good VR sniper game. You could probably do Silent Scope in VR.

It's time to take a look at a computer game that was a actually an arcade game first even though it was running on a home computer. Strange. This is the Bitmap Brothers Xenon.

Nice speaking of which i wonder how many ports of Xenon 2: Megablast there were

Always used to argue at school if the Atari St or Amiga had the best opening theme lol

Didn't they use Xenon on a kids show as a phone in comparison? Maybe the one with Gilbert the alien?

It was a decent shooter IMO with ace music and some nice art . The Amiga soundtrack was fab ,loved the remix on the CD32 too

It looked good but I never really rated it as a shooter. Maybe because I was playing Japanese shooters for a while before Xenon 2 came along.
