Truth is, there's going to be pain - probably far more at your end than hers. You're going to cry (no shame at all.) You're going to be be depressed. Your sex drive will go out of the window. Nothing will mean anything for weeks. Your favourite food tastes like nothing. You'll cry more, lots more (no shame at all.) You'll drink more. Cry more. Feel nothing for aaaaages more, a bit longer.

But it will lessen. And you'll probably feel free-er than you've ever felt.

The key is: don't hate her for her decision. It's her truth, and it is the truth. If it was your truth, the same would apply. The whole won't work without half of it.

I fully understand how this feels as around 6 weeks ago or so my gf of 3 1/2 years did pretty much the same to me. Usual crap of I love you but not like that, blah blah blah - the main difference with me being that it gets complicated because I have been seriously ill (and still am pretty rough) for almost 2 years. That in itself is another story mind you!

Basically 6 weeks on or so it does feel better, but I don't know if that's me putting on a brave face or what?

Needless to say for me it's made a bit more difficult in that due to medication I can't drink myself stupid, nor am I mobile enough to get out and meet new people
