Sega mega CD set up help

Just got a modded megadrive courtesy of chaoticjelly, I'm waiting on a modded megadrive from Pilotwings too but im wondering if i can try it out before it arrives with my PAL megadrive 2. i have no idea how to set it up with these metal plates and i have no idea if i have the right cables for it. Does anyone know where i might be able to find a guide? i've googled several things but no result yet...

Metal plate screws into MD, that's it really. No cables needed, but you might need to use a 3.5 to 3.5 mm if you have a Super 32X.

I think the plate i have is for a megadrive 1, so i'll just wait. thanks for your help!

The MCD2 setup doesn't use a metal plate, well only if you have a MD1 and a MCD2. The plate isn't necessary anyway.

I think the plate was for RF shielding, it's not essential.

Ah, I thought it might be important because i cant slot the megadrive 2 in so that it rests on the mega CD, the left half away from the slot just hovers off which seems kinda bad..
