Well I'm not really playing any at the moment myself.

But I was playing 3 player on mariokart 64 the other day with my 2 nephew's.

Strange why they left the music out in 3/4 player? so all you hear is the sound effects, well on my jap copy anyway.

My guess would be performance issues or not enough sound channels.
