    The Bourne Conspiracy - Demo

Well, instead of upping the demo to the UK PS3 Store like they said they would, they ended up just doing it to the US Store. How very predictable.

Anyway, loading screen proclaims its a Unreal Engine game. Urrrggghhhh

Right, my impressions of this game are unimportant. Because I really don't understand what this game is. I think I am too old to judge it, so please, someone younger than me download it and tell me this is an awesome mash up of styles and genres I am too old to appreciate, let alone play.

    Two spoilers for you....

Gunplay IS better than GTAIV, this is what I'd hoped GTA would of been like hmm.gif

I like this. Quite a bit.

Agreed, the loading thing is really annoying. You fail any of the QTE events and it appears to take an age to get reload. The driving is a tad whiffy, something I hope they tighten up before release.

I like the cover system and found the hand to hand fighting quite pleasing as well. Yeah, the game feels a tad 'on rails' from the demo, but sometimes I like stuff like this.

    Methinks i'll be buying this.

Is this the same disc demo that you can pick up in game at the moment?
Bank escape-shooting-fighting some guy on a plane?

      It really peed me off.

I liked the QTE/Running/Shooting bits but as soon as I had to have a fist fight with someone it became a total combat disaster. There is a boss fight that is so stupidly difficult beacuse all you do for 20 minutes is block 3 punches, throw 3 punches. I died about 10 times on that one bit on the middle difficulty.

Also, when you are in the shooty bits and get to close to someone you enter the fist fighting automatically, you can't escape it and the other enemies can shoot you. Great.

Yeah they are the same sections you would have played at Play.com Live and the same sections that are on the demo disc. I am a huge Bourne fan so this is a definate buy for me. I liked it when I played it on Play.com Live and I liked it when I played the demo too. The only bit that felt a little tacked on was the driving section in the Mini, just felt like it was there for the sake of it. Personally I loved the fighting sections, you have to concentrate and look for openings so you can attack. They are a bit hard but once you get the hang of them you will be fighting like Bourne himself

I just couldn't get the fighting sections at all. They really did frustrate me, shame because the rest wasn't too bad.

The driving section was horrendously bad. I did like the rest of the demo though, and I'll probably pick this up. I just hope there arent too many more driving levels...

Downloaded this on the 360 last night and played it through 3 times. Really really enjoyable. Highly scripted but so god damn cinematic that it actually feels really good. Fighting takes a bit of getting used to but it feels really nice to get a takedown in at just the right time and batter some guy's head against a wall. I really liked the shooting, felt suitably meaty and It's juicy how physics makes unloading a clip into a guy so sweet as he shakes around getting filled full of lead before collapsing The shooting takedowns are utter pornography but i will agree with the earlier comments that it's a bit frustrating that you cant disengage from a fist fight and either leg it or shoot your opponent.

My only criticisms echo above commenters, the driving doesn't feel right but then it is Unreal Engine so I don't expect too much. Hopefully there aren't too many driving sections and they are well controlled with a lot of nice set pieces. The length of the loading times was a bit frustrating when a missed button press means you have to set though a 20sec loading pause.

I'm gonna keep an eye on reviews, as long as this isn't painfully short then it's an almost certain purchase for me. Just the sort of game I could do with at the moment.

I thought it was utter tosh. As my dad used to say "All fur coat, nae pants".
It looks nice but the gameplay is non existent. I just felt like I was participating in one big cut scene.

I tried this as part of my "PS3 hard-drive clean up effort" last night, was better than I was expecting after reading various impressions. Loading times were very annoying though must agree - no excuse for that in these times.

have played through all 3 demo levels but i am still not sure what to think of this game. the qte-gameplay captures the action, speed and atmosphere of the movies quite well. the shooting was fun too, but the repetitive and flawed hand-to-hand combat and underlying mechanics are a letdown. also, the game's visuals are highly outdated.

PLayed this last night, wasnt 100% behind it but its a good idea

Reminded me a bit of farenheit in the way there were scripted events requiring key presses to resolve them. The combat was quite interesting as well

My main gripes are the loading time, which im hoping is a demo thing only, and the fact that the time given for the key presses seemed short and also occured when you were probably in the middle of key presses currently which overid this

Is your enjoyment of this likely to be +1 if you're a fan of the films?

It doesn't have Matt Damon in it so it's 1-up on the movies already if you ask me.

I just got round to trying the demo and quit halfway through the level.

From what I can tell, the game is going to be a few hours of me running between cutscenes and then pressing a random button to prevent me from having to sit through a too-long loading screen.

First off, cutscenes do not belong in games. They especially don't belong in a game where there is one every 30-60 seconds. Why do fights have to start with a mini cutscene? Sure they may look good but every second I'm not controlling my character my rage is building to the point where I'll refuse to play the game anymore.

Secondly, I never, ever want to play a QTE again. They are garbage and indicative of bad designers and lazyily thought through mechanics. Especially when they appear without any warning. I failed the first one with the gate because it suddenly popped up with no warning. It showed B and I hit it one microsecond too late. So I start at the last checkpoint after sitting through an unnecessary loading screen and thought "Hah ha, I know to press B again for this one" but of course the designers thought random button presses would be awesome so it flashed up X and I hit B and failed again.

I finally made it up on to the roof but just turned the demo off.

So to sum up - the gameplay is frustrating but the actual gameplay is mercifully short as every few seconds there is a cutscene.

Screw this game and screw QTEs.
