    Mountain Biking

Anyone want to meet up for some single-track mountain biking?

    Here: http://redlandstrails.wordpress.com/
Near Dorking/Guildford in Surry, in the areas surrounding Leith Hill.

    Video: http://vimeo.com/10098232

I went there yesterday and it was pretty awesome.
Some of the trails are mountain bike dedicated and maintained.

    I haven't found this one yet: http://vimeo.com/2858746

Coolo. I can't do next weekend, but maybe the weekend after.

I can guarantee a couple of hours of excellent riding as long as you are prepared to do uphills as well as the downs.

I haven't started yet this year but I've ridden the SDW a few times in the past.
I'm in GU34 so hopefully not too far away.

Near Alton? Should take about an hour.
            You are looking for "coldharbour"
I'm coming up from the south coast, so takes about an hour twenty.

There's some good riding 30 mins from you in Queen Elizabeth country park near Petersfield on the A3.

              Yeah Alton.
I maybe able to do next Saturday but Sun. is out.

              SDW runs through QECP

It does, but I don't think it goes round the cross-country course

I'll let you know as soon as poss on that Sat.

Anyone else up for this? You don't need to be a full sus downhiller for this. I'm riding a steel hardtail.

I also have a hardtail so I hope the route is not too bumpy

                    Charles,
Could you have a look on everytrail.com and suggest a probable route so we know what to expect.

                    eg http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=11536

Right, that route you linked there is quite long.

I'd be doing a much shorter route involving the bottom right quadrant of that route, taking in Summer Lightning, Leith Hill and the Regurgitator. I'd want to repeat that because they need to be ridden at least a couple of times to get the full benefit.

(that map is upside down...... N = S)

                        Anyone else interested?

Ok, my bad. I'm on not available next weekend at all, but can do this Sunday.

I'll be going again in a few weeks though.

If you fancy going anyway (perhaps with someone else) next week, I can give you instructions on how to find the good stuff - it's easy to find.

Sorry we can't hook up next weekend. I went today and it was pretty good.

I got fairly adventurous and the old magic seems to still be alive. As am I thankfully. Some big drop-ins, some decent jumps (for me on my hardtail, 4 foot landing on to the flat seems pretty big) and I was fair belting it on some knarly sections. I don't think my current level of skill would let me go any quicker without hurting something

Lovely. Did a 5 minute (mostly) downhill on Sunday. Totally hidden away in the woods on the south downs in a secret location near whiteways cafe.

It was much greener though so far less visibility.
