Rebuying stuff on itunes

I've just picked up an iPad and I went onto iTunes to download some of my music. It's recognising that I've already purchased it but is saying if I want to buy it again. Is this normal? When I buy aps it says I already have them

You don't get that liberty with Itunes, if you lose the files then it won't let you download them again for free.

No I downloaded directly to my iPhone I just want to put the lost soundtrack on

Sync your iphone to itunes to get the music on your computer then sync your ipad.
