IK + is indeed a great game, especially with a friend.

Interesting. Archer Maclean (author, for those not in the know) wasn't happy that the C64 version was chosen over the Amy version, at Game On. Apparently.

Sidez.. I've got a truck load of Spectrum and Amy games here, with more on the way. I'll bring them round when I got a mo.

Curious. Perhaps he considers the Amiga version to be better. I've played both and think the original C64 version is superior. It also happens to be the best fighting game available on the C64. Even better now that someone has hacked it to work with 4 player adapters so you can actually have all 3 players under human control

What I think he may have been upset with is that it wasn't a real C64 running the game... it was an emulator instead...

I have a couple of mates who know Archer well (big cab collectors themselves), so I may at some point get to meet the man himself again, so I can ask him a few things...

What's the difference between the two - I played the C64 version at Game On and although it was pretty similar to the amiga version the amiga had much better graphics and sound (obviously) does that not make it the better game?

The whole feel of it I guess... just didn't feel quite the same on the Amiga. Great conversion but it's not the same... IK+ on C64 rocks, even though Game On has it on emulator silly people...

And the music on the C64 version still kicks...

Mayhem, can you give some more details on this hacked version please? Also, is the adaptor for a C64?

                        My personal recommendations:

                        C64

                        P.O.D - Competely mental Gridrunner/Centipede style shooter
                        Voidrunner - See above
Iridis Alpha - My favourinte Minter game
                        IK+
                        Dropzone
Hyperblob - Sort of Lemmings affair. Good fun.
Thrust - The best Gravitar style game there is.
Warhawk - Very playable Starforce clone.
                        Wizball
Crazy Comets - Excellent Mad Planets clone. Fantastic music/fx. Manic.
Mega Apocalypse - Crazy Comets sequel. More mental.
Bounty Bob Strikes Back - Excellent platformer.
Trailblazer - 3D ball racing. Um, sorry, that's the best I can do. Try it.
Cosmic Causeway - Sequel to Trailblazer.
Executive/World Class Leaderboard - Amazing golf series.
                        Paradroid
Skate Rock - Surprisingly playable skateboarding game.
Beamrider - Not much improved over the 2600 version, but an excellent 'flat' Tempest.
HERO - Excellent cave exploration, shooting, rescue fest.
Toy Bizarre - Original and fun platformer.

                        Spectrum

Turmoil - Forget Jet Set Willy, *this* is the Speccy's best platformer
                        Jetpac
                        Knight Lore
West Bank - Superb Bank Panic clone.
Starstrike 3D - Basically the first Star Wars arcade game. Excellent.
Mutant Monty - Maybe it's just me, but I adore this simple maze game. Guide Monty to the exit, collecting gold on the way. Simple but fun.

Yep the adapter is for the C64...

Do a google for "IK+ Gold" and you'll find some info about it. It supports 3 different 4-player adapters, the one I have is from the Protovision guys:

A download for IK+ Gold is also on that page. Just then need the tech (XE1541 cable etc) to transfer it to a real floppy to play on C64!

For the record, 3 player IK+ is mental... really do have to be on your toes 8)
