    James Herbert had died.

Just seen this flash up on the BBC website. The Rats was one of the first horror books I ever read. Sad loss.

Aah shame, The Survivor was the first horror book I read.

    RIP James.

He was due to give a talk at university this month, which I was considering going to. Suppose not, now.

It would tie in quite neatly with his chosen genre if he did still turn up!

Fog fan here! I'm definitely going to read some others. Any suggestions?

              The Rats trilogy is great.

I remember starting the first book at midnight one night and then putting it down at 6am once I'd finished it.

Just noticed the mistake in the thread title - it makes it sound as though he's come back to life!
