    Alternatives to ipods... recommendations?

    Hi guys,

As the above title suggests I'm really looking to get a new mp3 player, but I don't think that ipods are the be all and end all when it comes to things like sound quality etc, that and I really hate the way it forces you to use itunes etc etc.

    Any suggestions for good alternatives?

    Many thanks for the help!

The Sansa Clip+ always gets good reveiws.
It is low priced and has good format support.

How much storage do you need?
I have a 120gig iPod Classic (I wanted lots of space) but put music on there using foobar2000, no iTunes involved.

Another vote for the sansa clip +. You can install Rockbox OS on it too. Plays FLAC. Battery lasts forever. Drag and drop.

I've got a Sansa Clip, Rockboxed and it's great, plus it easily drives my full size headphones, I bought a Fiio amp and it was no improvement, so I'd heartily recommend a Clip+. Other than that I'd say a Cowon of some form.

Got an old phone? I use my 8GB Nexus S for music and it doubles as an everything else player as well. Only downside is the battery life of course. Aeroplane mode ftw though.
