We're doing a tie up with Kobalt Computers until Christmas.

Kobalt make high end PC Gaming and CAD/GFX workstations including laptops and desktops. Shortly they are launching new Intel I7 and Nvidia 280M based laptops. I'm currently reviewing their Nexus laptop and this will be on the site soon

what's going on with the spectrum-esque rubber keys?

Doesn't look rubber, just low profile. Given the horsepower of these beasts, the amount of heat they'd put out could cause issues for a membrane keyboard.

Look like awesome desktop replacement systems, shame I'm not rich enough to afford them... yet!

They are pebble keyboards like on the MacBook etc.

No these aren't cheap compared to desktops (which Kobalt do also) but compared to other high end gaming laptops they are cheaper and substantially better.
