Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (Steam/Console)

Got this yesterday (if you preorder, you get "Early Access", otherwise it drops Thursday (24th). It's 49.99 and comes with Season 1 (Andy Bogard, Mr Big, Ken, Chun-Li) characters free.

Really not put to much time into it so far, but from what I have played of this and the 2 betas, I enjoyed it enough to warrant a purchase. Plus being a bit of an old skool fighting game fan, seeing a new Fatal Fury game come out 26 years later is pretty cool! Over the beta period (6 or so days in total, I also enjoyed some casual games with Paddy from this forum. Those games were lots of fun and looking forward to more against him with the full roster. Feel free to add me if you want to spar (I am pretty average, but hoping to improve).

The game has its own version of SF's World Tour mode. It is called Episodes of South Town. This is like a 75% arcade mode and 25% RPG. So far, I'm enjoying it. It also teaches you the mechanics along the way.

About mechanics. This is unashamedly old skool. Rich in its systems. It may scare. It does scare, but I had this with SF6 also. I was overwhelmed for a few days and so I am hoping that the same mini journey will happen here too.

So using SF6 systems as a comparison, we have REV Meter (you can compare this to SF's Drive gauge). Think of REV Meter as a reverse version of the Drive gauge. It will fill up as you use REV related stuff i.e. REV guard and EX type moves (REV Arts). If you hit 100% of your REV gauge your character will become exhausted just like Burnout mode in SF.

Below the REV Meter we have the Power Gauge. Use this to perform supers.

The game seems rich equally from both an attacking and defensive perspective.

I think visually it looks great. Really nice big and bold colouring. The comic style shading etc. Some of the impact effects are really beefy. Equally, the audio provides satisfying beef. The sense of impact is great.

That's it for now. Looking forward to at least look like I know what I am doing
