Had a quick go last night and it seems to be standard Ratchet & Clank by the book to me....which is a very good thing!!

The demo was a little limited due to being quite short and not that hard either.

Graphically it was gorgeous, especially when you consider the demo is over six months old now. I'll definately be getting this at launch as it worked well for me!

If you've played the games before then you know what to expect, if you didn't enjoy the older games then the shiny new graphics probably won't change your mind.

It will last you about 5-10 minutes I think. It is extremely fun though, don't be put off by the shortness of the demo.

More satisfying than the Heavenly Sword one then?

It's not one of those huge demos where an entire gig is dedicated to high encoded cutscenes that pretend to be in real-time, is it?

It must be - You telling me the graphical audio assets for a 10 minute demo occupy that kind of space ?

Or is it one of those demos with a lot more than what you can get to and all we need is some bugger to figure it out and youtube it ? (a-la Saints Row / Skate)...

Yes, except the cutscenes look fuzzy and completely different to the actual gameplay! Pretty standard, by the numbers platformer/3D roamer. It does have its moments, reminded me of the 3D Sonic games - probably all the rail riding you do.

I definitely noticed that the cut scenes weren't real time. The opening scene was like watching a Pixar film which I think contributed to my disappointment in the in-game graphics, which didn't blow me away in motion like the first screenshots did. It slowed down quite a lot during one of the big explosions during the rail grinding section, as well.

This was actually my first time with a R&C game and I liked it, but wasn't blown away. The animation is beautiful and the inventive weapons are superb but other than that it felt like I expected it would. I'm not sure if it was a case of a demo level trying to tick all the boxes, but the (slow!) grinding sections were overdone and of course there was the token Sixaxis waggle bit.

I wasn't going to buy it and this hasn't changed my mind. Uncharted and UT3 will be the games keeping up the PS3 end for this year

Personally I though the ingame graphics were far superior to the cutscenes.

In game it moved around nicely, the cut scenes were quite choppy. The cutscenes also seemed to be lower detail (noticeably so with Captain Quark who didn't even look like he did in the trailer they released ages ago). They were a total let down (visually) as far as I was concerned.

You can make the demo last over 20 mins if you search every room and box, I went from a maybe to a must buy.
I liked the rail grinding sections !

Thats such an unfair comparison imo.
