Phase (iPod - yes, iPod - game from Harmonix)

    Has anyone else tried this?

It was plugged in the iTunes 7.5 update last night and is now available on the iTunes Store for ?3.99, with the big deal being that it's a new rhythm game from Harmonix (Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Amplitude). It requires a 5G iPod or newer, except the iPod Touch which isn't supported.

It's the same basic idea with notes coming towards you and it has a handful of songs included, but the cool thing here is that it lets you import your own music by adding it to the Phase playlist in iTunes. The fact that it can analyse your music and generate the notes for it bodes well for their next game, and from playing with it earlier it seems to a fair to good job, depending on the genre of music (something with a very prominent beat works best). You play it by pressing the middle button and left or right on the click wheel to hit the notes and swooping around the click wheel to play longer ones.

It's certainly limited by being on the iPod and I'm slightly disappointed that you have to add music to a playlist in order to use it in the game - being able to choose from my whole library would be fantastic - but it's only ?3.99 and seems like a fun little time killer.
