Well been playing this today & it's rather enjoyable. It's been a good while since a music game came out on ds the last ones were the taiko games.
So what is this game?, well err it's pretty much like a japanese version of top of the pops mixed with the gameplay mechanics of ouendan. All the songs & fashions of the dancers is from the 80's so theres pretty much nothing but 80's pop, japan style.
All the music is vocal & theres 30 songs in total on the cart but some need to be unlocked. As you play the lyrics drop down the screen into a yellow box, as the 2 line up you tap the box & the song lyrics get sung, however if your timing is off you get the rather amusing off key warblings instead or if you totally miss you get nothing as the song will miss out those lyrics.. Along with the box tapping some songs also have backup singers that you have to tap as they appear on the screen. Theres also a few other stylus moves you need to do like dragging the box across a word to make it be sung a bit at a time, sort of like the ball dragging bits in ouendan. One fun bit is in the bottom right hand corner theres 3 otaku who provide backup sounds, one bangs an instrument, another claps in time to the song & the other screams. Hehe you can goto the options & actually record your own sound clip instead so when you tap him he plays back your amusing jibe.
Theres lots of extra fluff to unlock like costumes & stuff that you can customize your dancers with but not really bothered much with that side of things. So far really enjoying it
