It?s worth pointing out, just for a starter
There?s cliches galore in Magna Carta
A by the numbers Softmax JRPG
(I can hear you despairingly crying ?whoopee?)
Indeed you may be aghast
To hear the lead character has forgotten his past
Yes, he?s got a bout of amnesia
And things get even cheesier...
The girls are endowed with implausible breasts
Fighting crabs on a beach is your first combat test
There?s a 15 year old girl with a very short skirt
With displayed sexuality uncomfortably overt
A map of each area, displayed from above
No freedom of movement, to speak of..
A flashing direction arrow to show you the way
Text boxes when unvoiced NPCs have something to say
Evil protagonists with eye patches, generic
The female in your party is obviously the cleric
She?s called Zephie, she?s a former princess
(She?s the one I told you about before with the very short dress)
You?re called Junto, you have spiky hair
A hidden past (which impending events will make clear)
The other characters are all rather forgettable
The voice acting is often rather regrettable
But to be fair the combat is quite entertaining
As it?s realtime and features some complex attack chaining
And battering of A, X and B
Which counters the enemies attacks to a degree
Because there?s no cut between exploration and fighting
It feels a bit like an MMO, and is almost exciting
The graphics are nice, Unreal 3 with no hitches
The entire thing is well done, no obvious glitches
The core problem is it?s all fairly routine
The gaming equivalent of chicken chow mein
It?s also very expensive to buy new
Which is a good thing, (depending on your point of view)
As while it?s generic, and utterly rote
The fact it?s quite rare makes it of note
