    Starhawk review

Saw a few peeps playing this over the weekend so expected there to already be a thread for the full game

I'd found the beta to be a little disappointing after the brilliance that was its predecessor Warhawk, however, on the back of a wealth of decent reviews I caved and decided to give this a go. The single player is likely to be everyone's early port of call and some of the reviews references to it as a training mode aren't far off. It's all very budget, reusing the multiplayer maps to string out the story of Emmett in a Firefly style world were people harvest rift energy. Emmett is dosed in this stuff, not that it affects the gameplay. Mostly its running and gunning and gets old very quick. It does however play very smoothly.

My time with the multiplayer is very minimal but it seems to follow the beta closely of not quite having the structure and tactical edge that Warhawk had. There's also been quite a few complaints raised on the net that the vehicles aren't balanced, either being too quick to target or too overpowered. There seems to be only a small handful of maps (offset only slightly by the eventual DLC being free). Things will settle eventually but I'm feeling it's going to be best for me to focus purely on the multiplayer this week and if it doesn't start to click trade for Max Payne 3. I do think this would have done a lot better as a ?20 PSN release rather than pushing for a ?40 retail one.
