Been playing this most of the weekend & it's rather fab, a strange mix of game styles as it's part rpg but it's also got a lot of item creations stuff in it too.
Basically the story of the game is you play as Nora a girl who has been mistaken as a witch, a long time ago a witch called Vela caused allsorts of crap for the nearby town till a hero went in & sorted her out. The townsfolk are not too happy to see you at first but they will warm to you. You get on their good sides by completing their requests, usually they are after a certain item that you can create. You will be given only a clue on the quest request to where to start looking for said item.
Now the main meat of the game is creating things using various techniques, distilling & combining items together can in turn create new items, you can also break items down into their raw materials to use in other things, More importantly is the contraption in Nora's house it is a device that can maniplulate time it can age things & take things back in time to restore them. For example you can turn plants back into seeds or go forward in time & turn it into a fully grown tree. Now the time studio needs chrono water to run there about 5 kinds & each is used for maniplulation certain items, some only work on organic things and others only on mineral. You have a slide bar on the machine to move forward or back if you have enough chrono water you can experiment & see if the item you have turns into something else. At first your crafting abillities will be limited but as you buy more equipment from the shops you will be able to do more for example the amount of dishes you can cook will increase if you buy the cooking pan set. Also you have to keep track of the time as the story lasts so many years & creating stuff uses up time & some of the requests you get are time dependant you have so long to complete them.
To find the ingredients you need to go out in the world & search, there are areas you can goto on the map that are a static location you will see a load of ingredients on the screen that you can collect but some a tagged with triggers that activate if you pick them, some will cause monsters to attack you or they will shuffle or remove items that you have picked. When you have picked a bunch of stuff you can put it away into your bag but you can only do it once per location till your return back home, the risk is do you keep going & hope that you dont lose it all or bag the stuff you have found so far. The monster battling stuff is bog standard rpg stuff, basically tun based. One thing i really do love is the graphical style of the game the character art is lovely & the music is pretty top notch too.
I'm finding the item creation & battling pretty compelling so far but i look forward to seeing how the story goes, i don't really play these types of game much so i'm finding it pretty refreshing.
