I wasn't even aware they were still going, but it's sad to hear a name that played such a big part of your childhood has passed on (I'm too young to care a crap about George Best but the fact that I'll never see Richard Whiteley in alive mode again was a bit disheartening too coz I used to join in with Countdown every day after school).
This all just makes me feel really old even though I'm only 26.

      Oh no!
I remember buying Monkey Island 1 from them. Oh, the memories...

I actually got my PAL PS2 from them a few years ago. Top-notch customer service from Special Reserve when the Royal Mail didn't bother even trying to deliver it to me. They investigated it immediately and called me back and did all the donkey work.

      Ah well...

yeah i remember they were everywhere during the 16 to 32 bit era, strangley enough they felt apart of that era, every mag worth their salt at the time had them advertised normally located at the back page, i never brought form them, but i do rember looking through their list of games always cheaper than the shops, and later on they gave free gifts to new members normally in a form of a half decent game, third party controller, or those little keyring games. Haven't heard much from them over the last 5 years its sad that they couldn't surivive in the GAME clone driven retail outfits. Another bit of videogamings identity has been lost as we drive towards a future in videogames no different to the current unoriginal, boring, talentless pop singers, boybands, and stale commercialised music with no real identity that dominates the current music industry.

Their website was a bit of a nightmare to navigate, mind.

Oh well based on that they must have deserved it then

Is this national mourning day on the forum or what?
