Xbox 360 faceplate thread!!

I got my first faceplate today, the sun themed one and I am super impressed with it, I hope that MS is going to rlease far more colours in the future and practically eliminate the need to buy vastly overprice Limited Edition consoles from Ebay in the future.

I cannot see it being long until they release some nice limited faceplates though and I willl be first in line to get more of them. This has to be the most stylish console ever released, it is just so beautiful.

Has anyone else succumbed to the faceplate fever yet???? For fifteen quid you really cannot go wrong with the sun themed one, it looks gorgeous in the flesh , I'll post a pic or two in a couple of days. I just need a USB lead for the new digi camera, and yes Importaku, collection pics will finally be on their way to you mate. The collection is massive now bro!

As tempting as it is to get one of these, it would look out of place unless you could change the colour of the whole unit, surely?

I've got the Sun one too, and I think it looks luvverly. Doesn't look out of place in the slightest due to the rest of the 'box being white too.

My g/f got me the "Woody" one which goes well with my room and my little bro got the "Hot Rod" blue one..they do look quite cool, I'll try and post a pic of mine later.

Not at all mate, the sun one is white with swooshes of colour and goes with the console perfectly, I never got the other colours due to the same thinking as you, but seriously mate, wait until you see a pic of it on the unit, it's lovely.

The problem with faceplates is that whilst they might look good on a premium xbox with its silver tray, they will look crap on a core system as the white tray won't exactly blend in. Can't really see why MS made the core different like this.

Theres a site that does skins for the 360 (sides and face), and some of them look pretty cool, like the carbon-fibre one.

Also I think the core tray is plastic to keep the cost of the unit down.

I think he means when he gets his 360, he'll get a chrome faceplate.

It was a 'Freebie Promotional Item' lol but limited to 700 units

Yeah, it is a pretty limited thing and I think that it is really just for collecting purposes as a promo item and not really for putting on the 360 for making the unit better looking. What you have to remember though is that for some PGR 3 nut, it would make the 360 unit look alot better. We have to remember that everyone will have their own specific taste for these things and sm sure that Microsoft will start making the 360 in different coloured shellls, it's only been out a month for ****s sake, give them a chance.

I originally had no interest in the faceplates but i have to say I quite like the look of the 'Sun' one. Does the white on the Sun faceplate match that of the actual console?

Also, did you find it easy to detach and attach the faceplates? A friend of mine has the limited edition PGR faceplate and he said he thought the supplied faceplate was going to snap when he took it off.
