review of the system at kotaku its coming in hot by the sounds of things as updates to the operating system are coming in thick and fast and certain functionality isn't working yet but could be come Friday who knows.

Voice command seems patchy still, and was working 80% of the time for the reviewer so if its struggling to hear an American I'm ****ed with my Yorkshire accent lol, anyway go for a read yourself seems to have lots of potential but its just not quite there yet as an entertainment hub with Key features missing.

this bit about the ir blaster made me chuckle as ive had similar issues with my universal remote.

i have the exact same problem with my universal remote it has a function to turn everything on at once but it rarely gets used.

This is why logitech Harmony is the only real choice. It can differentiate between "power toggle" and separate functions for "power on" and "power off" (all of my devices have all these options)

Having watched a few videos this is a wait and see for me because the Kinnect. It would only take our lass a couple of days to learn how to screw it up and keep shouting "XBOX F OFF"!!

Can you control it without Voice commands, cos I hate them!

i may have to invest in one of them I'm current using a PS3 branded One4all which is pretty good but nowhere near as nice as a Harmony

theirs potential for trolling it currently terminates a game without warning if you tell it to switch to another game so if your loseing you could say "xbox play insert game" and it switches without saving, you don't have to use the voice commands but its quicker if you do.

There are restrictions that can be turned off stop stop that happening as it can see who is signed in , who is playing and exactly who is talking. You can restrict who it accepts commands from.

You can use the pad to do most functions, but it involves lots more in the way of inputs to snap an app or record something than just telling it what you want.

Just read the write up on Eurogamer and from what i have read Microsoft have not let me down. It sounds just a wonderful piece of kit, i cannot wait to get my hands on it now. yes its a shame that not everything is available from start, like the TV Guide thing and some of the game resuming ability doesnt quite work 100% but these are things that will only be imporved over the coming weeks. Whats also interesting is that the updates are still being done, so come Friday maybe some system features will me ironed out.

Seems I'll never own an XBox One because there's no way on earth I'm ever going to even try to understand WTF is going on in this screenshot! Please let the PS4 UI not be similar to this (I haven't seen it yet); the Vita one is bad enough.

One thing im not quite getting is a for a lot of the hardware reviews they are all saying the time they had with Xbox One was limited. I take it no of them are actually reviewing hardware they actually own? I would of thought with 2 days to go they would of been given their own unit to spend as much time as they needed in order to review?
